As part of the project about the range dynamics of broadleaved tree species, we are evaluating how oak (Quercus robur) and maple (Acer platanoides) seedlings perform at their northern range limit in Sweden.
Last month (May 2021), Malin Borg (SU field assistant) and I (Jacqueline) transplanted seedlings in 60 sites (totaling 1080 seedlings), which represent the gradient of species suitability.
In each site, we also collected soil samples and put out loggers to measure temperature once every hour until the next autumn, when we will be back to check the seedling's survival rate.
